Attorney Edd K. Roberts III was featured in a local magazine, “NC Triangle Attorney at Law,” regarding a murder case where the defendant was tried by jury for an alleged double homicide. Due to the aggravating circumstances of the murders, the State sought the death penalty in the case. The trial lasted three months and over fifty witnesses were called to testify. The mitigation evidence introduced by the defense in the case showed that the defendant grew up on the streets in an impoverished little shanty suburb in a third world country. Evidenced showed he was physically abused as a child and left his home country to come to the United States looking for a better life. The draw of easy money caused him to get entangled up in a robbery scheme that went tragically bad.
